One of the most popular instant messaging app, WhatsApp, has gone a step ahead, as it'll be now available on Web browser too. Acquired by Facebook last year, WhatsApp has unveiled a new service which will let you send messages from a Web browser. | |

WhatsApp has a user-base of 500 million fans and they have announced that its Web service will require an Internet-connected phone to access. In a blog post WhatsApp notified, “Our Web client is simply an extension of your phone: the Web browser mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device – this means all of your messages still live on your phone.”
Currently the new service is available on Google's Chrome browser only and has not reached iPhone users as certain limitations are there on the Apple platform. Smartphone users who want to connect to the web client must go through this link. A QR code wil appear which has to be scanned to activate this service. The service is not a very convenient one as the user's smartphone has to be connected to Internet so that WhatsApp works on the Web browser. WhatsApp transmits and receives around 30 billion messages every day, staying much ahead of its competitors, Facebbok Messenger and WeChat.
In a previous announcement, WhatsApp banned some users for 24 hours as they violated the app's 'terms of service' by using a third-party client. WhatsApp banned those Android users who are using WhatsApp Plus. WhatsApp stated the reason in their FAQ section as, "WhatsApp Plus is an application that was not developed by WhatsApp, nor is it authorised by WhatsApp. The developers of WhatsApp Plus have no relationship to WhatsApp, and we do not support WhatsApp Plus. Please be aware that WhatsApp Plus contains source code which WhatsApp cannot guarantee as safe and that your private information is potentially being passed to 3rd parties without your knowledge or authorisation." |
