Here Comes The Tiniest Battery Of The World!
The structure, invented by University of Maryland based researchers, is called nanopore.

Wednesday, November 12, 2014 A battery has been developed by U.S. based researchers which is very small in size. This battery is so small that it can be stuffed into a space, which is of the size of a postage stamp. The structure, invented by University of Maryland based researchers, is called nanopore.

According to researchers, this structure can lead to complete miniaturisation of energy storage components. A ceramic hole has a tiny hole which holds the electrolyte and this electrolyte carries electrical charge between nanotube electrodes. The device is still under development, but performance level of the microscopic battery is satisfactory. Lead researcher from the university, Chanyuan Liu said this battery can be charged in 12 minutes and it can also be recharged thousand times.

According to the researchers, the efficiency of the unit depends on the shape of the nanopore, which permits packing tiny batteries in a closer manner. The modelling shows that exclusive design of the nanopore battery is liable for the success. Researchers have full confidence in this unit's efficiency. Now the scientists will also try to make the next version of the battery more powerful, at least by ten times. Check out the following video to have a look at the invention:
