Monday, October 20, 2014 Tails is a live GNU/Linux distribution developed in Debian. It is an amnestic incognito live system. The version 1.2 of Tails is now available for download. This latest release brings a lot of bug fixes and few new features. Let’s take a look at what does Tails v1.2 offers.

New Features-

1. Full Tor browser package replaces Iceweasel based browser in Tails v1.2. Tor browser package is based on Firefox 31.2.0esr which fixes POODLE bug.
2. Tor version has been upgraded to 0.2.5.8-rc
3. Several important applications with AppArmor 3.16.5

Minor Improvements-

1. Upgraded I2P to 0.9.15, and isolated I2P traffic from the Tor Browser by adding a dedicated I2P Browser. Also, I2P starts automatically upon network connection, when the I2P boot option is added.
2. Enabled VirtualBox guest additions by default. In particular this enables VirtualBox’s display management service.
3. Made the TOR status in Pidgin clearer.
4. Upgraded syslinux to 6.03-pre20, which will fix UEFI boot on some hardware.
