Thursday, November 06, 2014 WhatsApp has quietly rolled out an update for its application, having which users will be able to check whether there message has been read by the recipient or not. Check mark will appear next to each message you’ll send (like it usually does) which will later get changed to blue colour when it will be delivered and read by the contact.

User can also check upon the exact time of it being read by long-pressing upon the message and then tapping on the message info button.

WhatsApp has explained upon the new feature on its FAQ page, “If you see two blue check marks next to your sent message then the recipient has read your message. In a group chat or broadcast message, the check marks will turn blue when every participant has read your message.”

The update has already been rolled out to Google Play. However, the app for iOS has not yet received this update.

The Message Info screen will display all the details about the message. WhatsApp noted on its FAQ page, “For any message that you send, you will be able to see a Message Info screen, displaying the details of when your message was delivered, read or played by the recipient(s).”

The page also states that if in case user doesn't see the blue check marks next to the message, it would mean that either the recipient might not have opened the conversation, or recipient might be using an outdated version of WhatsApp, or else there might be some connection issues between the two.
